EXTENSION OF BLUE PASSPORT

The Embassy wishes to announce that effective March 31st, 2006, it will stop extending the Blue Passport except:
1. For immigration interview with proof of interview appointment produced.

2. When travelling back to The Gambia. A proof of airline ticket is required.

The blue passport was phased out on January 1st, 2005 and extensions were done to enable everyone to acquire the new passport.

President Jammeh begins "Dialogue With The People Tour"

The President Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh Monday begins a nation wide tour. The tour otherwise known as "dialogue with the people" is a constitutional requirement which provides the President the opportunity to meet people in their localities to discuss their problems and find a way of addressing them. The outing will also enable the chief executive to visit development projects and assess the level of progress attained in the execution of these projects.

The Gambian leader departed Banjul for Barra in Lower Niumi where he is meeting elders of the village before proceeding to the Barra-Amdalai Road project.

On Tuesday President Jammeh will depart Kerewan for a visit to the Chamen Agric Training Centre and the Ngayen Sanjal health centre.

The presidential delegation will leave Ngayen Sanjal at 13:45p.m. for Farafenni where the President will have his second night stop after visiting the Community Doctors Training Centre there.

On Wednesday Dr. Jammeh will attend a political rally in Kaur from where he is billed to visit a women's vegetable garden project in Wassu. The President and entourage will depart Wassu at 1:30p.m. for Janjanbureh where he will visit the President's rice field before settling for the night.

According to the itinerary President Jammeh will visit the new police station in Bansang on Thursday, visit Gambisara in the URR and attend a victory celebration in the administrative base Basse, where he will be spending the night. The delegation will depart Basse on Friday for a meeting in Koina where the President is expected to join a congregation for the Juma Prayers.

President Jammeh and entourage will also visit projects in CRR South, LRR, Western Region, and KMC before ending the tour on the 16th May with a meeting at the July 22nd Square in Banjul.
